The assumed sonic divination involved in the making of Paul Babe’s music begins with cracking open the Magic 8-ball and drinking the juice. Twin Cities bred, BK based soft-psych/cosmic r&b band Paul Babe elegantly fuses the organic and computerized across cinematic arrangements of classically memorable songs. Vivid vocals lean soulful and carve a path through the deceptively dense, hifi forest found growing out of the tunes. Homemade and gritty, the bedroom producer vibes wallpapered throughout are painted over with a sheen of refreshing ambience, sealing the elements, both raw and polished. Paul Babe is experimental but rarely out of the groove, and when torn down to the studs, reveals a foundation laid with the craft of a singer/songwriter. The lyrics sometimes lighthearted, sometimes poignant, but primarily poetic, canopy the tracks. In Webspeak, Paul Babe might be labeled #sexychill, which wouldn’t be wrong but doesn’t paint the band’s entire picture. The music is genuine, rich in spirit, and true to self which, in so many words, is better to say it’s so rock & roll (#rocknroll).
